Modern Minute
Jill did the introduction on Improv Piecing.  The funny thing is it seems like you either love to improv piece or it scares you to death!  She showed some great examples from Pinterest.  It was funny to see peoples reactions when we talked about doing "curved" improv...Yikes!

Free Motion Quilting on your Home Machine
by Anne Renfrew

We were fortunat to have Anne demonstrate how she does her Free Motion Quilting.  She explained that she has taken Craftsy classes from Angela Walters, Jacquie Gerring, and her favorite Leah Day.  Here is a link to Craftsy to look up some great online classes.

The one thing we learned, PRACTICE!  Take your scraps of fabric and batting and make small squares to "doodle" with your machine.

Here she demonstrates how to do "Pebbles".

Here are some pictures of her quilts.

Here are some closeups of her free motion work.  It is amazing the detail she can capture.

It was a very inspiring meeting.  We all left wanting to go play on our machines.
Thanks Anne!

Please bring your own fabric.  You can use this time to piece a quilt, quilt a quilt, or do some binding.  We have members that have generously offered to long arm the quilting, if needed.   There is no specific design you need to do so it is a fun opportunity to get creative!  Please let Pat know if you plan on attending.
