October 2015

October 2015

Modern Minute
This months Modern Minute we explored various unique quilt designs and the various techniques used.  Paper Piecing, scrappy, angular, and curves.

Elections
We had elections this month for Treasurer and President Elect.
Dawn will be our new Treasurer for 2016
Barbara will be our next President Elect and shadow Pat in 2016

Dues
Next month we will be collecting dues.  Please have a check or exact cash to give to the Treasurer.

Program
This month we steered away from the a regular program and had a more social event.  We played the card game "war" for the chance to win a stash of 5" charms of fabric.  (Aren't those the most PERFECT cards for Quilters!) Originally, you are suppose to play till someone wins ALL the fabric.  It was taking a while so, we decided to divvy up the stash and each of us has to make something with the fabric for the next meeting.  No requirements.  It can be a bag, a quilt, a placemat, etc.  Just have fun!

This Post failed to get published originally, so...

It was a great meeting that we talked about our favorite Quilting Tools.  Below you will find a great resource to some great tools.
Happy Quilting!

Modern Minute

Pat introduced the topic of Bold Prints.  We went around and looked at everyones Show and Share and asked the Maker what drew them to the chosen prints.  It was interesting.  Some were drawn to the colors, some to the pattern on the print, and others to the size of the print.  Some were geometric others floral, others neon.  So many options!

Community Project

Check out the Flickr page and see some of the adorable baby quilts that have been made for the Pinnacle Neonatal Unit.  You have until next month's meeting to get yours in.  Have some fun with it and try something new  Keep the size to 36" X 36" and enjoy the opportunity to play with the quilting space.  Free Motion anyone?
