January Meeting and Sew and Share

January meeting minutes.

Sew and Share


Elise began the evening sharing her Block of the Month from Quiltworks in Tunkhanneck,PA which is now closed.


Leslie shared a feminine hygiene kit from a workshop she participated in for Days for Girls earlier this month. Sharon coordinates the program in our area. If you are interested in attending, their next meeting is February, 7, 2020 from 11-3 at the Lemoyne Community Center, 510 Hermann Ave. Lemoyne, PA. Doors to the room are located in the back. Please bring a lunch and your sewing machine.


Debby took the 2 charm packs she received our holiday party and sewed this patchwork lap quilt. The fabric is Woven from Moda. She also shared a couple of quilt alongs being offered on Instagram: #MoreModernHSTBOM by @Stephjacobsondesigns and@zanymouse are sponsoring one and #scrapsnapquiltalong from www.quiltsforthemaking.com is the second.
 

Sonja shared several pieces she entered into the Farm Show earlier this month. She won second place for her greeting card and third place for her place mat . The table runner was created at her church.
 



Beth shared several blocks she is working on to help bust her stash of Cotton and Steel Basic fabrics.The pattern is titled Traffic Jam and is free on Pat Sloan's website.


Nancy shared this 1 Block Wonder quilt she completed. She also used an app, WonderDesign helper to put it together.


Melanie is using her scraps to create this modern quilt top.


Lois shared a quilt she made for her grandson inspired by an astronomy chart, titled the Science Lesson designed by Sylvia Schaefer. The design is based on the Hertzsprung- Russell -diagram.
She also created a couple of bags.


Sigrid made this lovely Shoreline Shoulder Bag from on of her favorite sites, 
dogundermydesk.com.


Dawn also,used the fabric she got at our Holiday party to create this pattern which she found in a magazine.

Amy has been taking a few workshops at  Half Moon Handwerks in New Cumberland and shared her projects with us. Here is one of her pieces using traditional block printing with teak wood blocks.



Karen made two quilts for her grandchildren using "Moon Dance" a postcard type pattern available at Half Moon Handwerks in New Cumberland. 
 


And finally, here is our Charity quilt for this year's QuiltCon. Thanks to Debbie and Beth for designing it and everyone who helped with the letters, binding and sewing.

Our program this evening was our first challenge titled, Snip and Rip using Batik fabrics. The challenge quilts will be due at our May meeting.
