December Meeting

Our final meeting of 2020, we met over Zoom and many of us are getting better at sharing our screens. I am always amazed at the many talented people that are in our group. Here's bit of what they've been sewing.

Here's Donna's quilt from our IMPROV workshop.

Debbie L designed this quilt top.

Debbie and Donna created these mug rugs for family and friends this holiday season.

Gay created these quilts with a holiday theme from Laundry Basket Quilt Fabric using fabric from her stash.

And this one is a gift. It's from the Missouri Star Quilt Company using a half hexi chain pattern.  The fabric is Baltimore Blues by Barbara Brackman for Moda.

Cordell enjoys using her stash to create her quilts. These quilts are heading to grandnieces  as gifts. She used fabric from her stash, church banners, exchange fabric from CAMQG and even kitchen curtains.

This quilt is titled, "Time of Our Lives". Cordell created this quilt for the Cornerstone Coffee Shop in Camp Hill where our guild will be displaying some quilts.

Debby M. created these two quilts for her grandchildren this month.

Joan created these beautiful wall hangings. The pieced tree with red button ornaments was created using a free pattern from Jordan Fabrics. The skinny wall hanging is titled, Cardinals in Winter Trees, by Patch Abilities, Inc.

Wishing you a safe holiday and a peaceful and healthy new year!

Fall Challenge

Fall Challenge

In July, Karen asked us to bring a non-quilting magazine to our meeting. We used a mathematical equation to arrive at a designated page number. This page was to inspire us to create something. Karen left the perimeters open. And here's what we  did.....

Gay took the colors in the picture and used them to create blocks from Suzy Quilts, Shine pattern.

Cordell used page 80 in the Jan/Feb edition of The Atlantic. This is an off-center interpretation in solids and figured fabric from CAMQG and Tanzania.

Melanie found inspiration from the text on this page. One of her long term goals is to move to a warmer climate.

Debby used page 108 from the art magazine, UPPERCASE and was inspired by the memorabilia and straight lines of the shelves. She used two old linen pieces from her grandmothers to create these table runners.

Joan used a page from Southern Living Magazine to create this beautiful table runner.

Marilyn found a page in a Running Trails magazine and created this table runner.

We'll be adding more pictures as our members share them.

Fall Happenings

Happy Fall to everyone
Here are our September and October meeting minutes.

Sew and Share

Here are 2 quilts we sent to members of the Lancaster Modern Quilt Guild for our Swap.

Beth

Debby

Cordell has been busy creating beautiful totes from her fabric stash.

She used cotton sheeting which she dyed a pale blue-green.  She then used five textile paint applications, in blue, cream, green, chartreuse, yellow.  The internal underlining is quilted in a cross-hatch pattern for strength and the bottom is separately quilted using  faux suede.  The chartreuse lining is from a church banner, the green and gold beads from  a Navaho bead shop in Page, Arizona, two small salmon and a turtle of hand-carved jade from an Athabascan bead shop in Fairbanks, Alaska.  Perle cotton embroidery finishes the circle.  The basic structure is from a McCall's sewing pattern #3308.  This is for Charity.

Improv With Intent
This quilt inspiration is Jazz in textiles.  Improvisation quilt piecing done in string sets.  Backed and faced in brown.  36" square.  Charity.

Over Under
Over a doll or under a cat.  Bound in brown. 16" x 22". For Charity

Improv Napping Quilt
The fabric remnants are from Midwest farm auctions and Tanzania and Nigerian hand-batiks from garment construction.  The yellow is from a tablecloth.  Free-hand remnant cutting spurs the give and take design process.  Backing and binding in brown.  For Charity.

Improv Snuggling Quilt
Fabric remnants from Midwest farm auctions, Tanzania and Nigerian hand-batik from garment construction.  Yellow from a tablecloth.  Free-hand remnant cutting lends the jazzy design sensibility.  Bound in yellow.  Backed in brown.  For Charity.
