Several members are off to attend Quiltcon in Raleigh, North Carolina. We look forward to hearing about the experience.
Program: Chelsea - Color Theory
A big Thank You to Chelsea for her presentation on Color Theory. Taking small fabric pieces and placing them in ROYGBV order was more challenging than we thought, but nicely laid the groundwork for other activities in using color to plan quilts. See attached handout if you would like some practice at home. Here are the video resources on color theory from Karen Brown’s Just Get it Done Quilts. (We watched the first one at the meeting)
We were also intrigued with Karen D’s “Essential Color Card Deck” available for online purchase. Below is a tutorial on how they can be used.
Our Q&A was “How and how often should you clean your iron?” - Various suggestions were: A hot iron on a dry setting can be rubbed over a cotton cloth, a cloth with 1” of the 'creamy stuff' that comes in a tube, or salt sprinkled on cloth or wax paper. A cold iron can be cleaned with a baking soda and white vinegar paste, brillo pad, crumpled foil, or a water/vinegar solution. Some chose to scrape their hot iron on the ironing board or just not clean the iron. The choice is yours!!
Round Robin - Tasha described her vision of a Round Robin Quilt, many were excited to participate. If you were not at the meeting but would like to participate please contact Tasha. TashaFerris@gmail.com or (570) 404-0097.
