October Member Spotlight

This month's spotlight was Leslie Robinson. She shared her quilting journey with us and a beautiful journal that she used to keep records of her quilts. Her first quilt was a baby quilt that she tied. Next, she made some pillow shams to match a LLBean quilt her husband gave her.  She told us that she really enjoyed and still enjoys hand sewing and hand quilting. Many nights during her career as an Obstetrician she would stitch while waiting for  babies to arrive. Her latest venture was completing a quilt for a friend that was started 40 years ago. She also has made beautiful braided rugs. Here are a few of Leslie's quilts and rugs.

Thanks for sharing you journey with us, Leslie.

October Meeting and Sew and Share

You can find the meeting minutes here.

Here's our Sew and Share for the month...

Gay made this Amy Butler Birdie Purse using fabric from her stash.

She used Kaffe Fassett fabric to make this stack and whack table runner.  She also made a small table topper using fabric from her stash. She snowballed one corner of the outside blocks and snowballed the inside square on all four corners.

Sharon made this hummingbird quilt for her cousin.

Leslie shared a quilt that she made with a few friends for a local community hospice house in York.

Nancy took a workshop recently and created these bags from snack bags. What a great way to recycle!

Cindy always wanted to make a color weave quilt pattern. She found this pattern at Christa Watson's website. She used Fandangle Fabric Strips and a spotted gray light and dark fabric from Zen Chic.

She also made this Type It Jelly Roll Quilt from a free pattern found on Moda United Notions.com. She used an Alison Glass Jelly Roll and Backing.

She had these two bird panels which she quilted differently to see the results. The panel borders are made with complementary fabrics from Tracy Lizotte for Elizabeth Studio Fabric.

Which do you like?

Gina finished her Jacob's Ladder Challenge and did some Lucy Boston EPP blocks.

Lois made this Trip Around the World quilt using fabric from her stash. She also had fun creating these autumn leaves.

Joan had fun making these colorful Halloween themed quilts. She made BOO! with a friend using The Jelly Roll Boo pattern from Judy Wolf of Honey Bee Quilt Store in Austin TX. Here's the front and back.

Halloween in the Neighborhood, using the Dresden Neighborhood pattern by Persimon Dreams.

And one more....

She also showed us the jacket she made.

Maike made this beautiful pocket she finished at our meeting.

Debby shared a quilt she made using The Talk of the Town quilt pattern by Amy Ellis. She used Moda fabric and fabric from her stash. She also shared the Haori jacket she made using a Wiksten pattern.
