We had an exciting November meeting! Our freshly quilted Quiltcon charity quilt was revealed, and used as an opportunity to demonstrate the laser method of squaring a quilt.
We held our regular business meeting (minutes can be found here) and then Sonja shared with us holiday card making materials and we all had an opportunity to make a card to take home.

November Meeting Sew and Share
Gay made an Irish chain quilt for her bed using fabrics from Denyse Schmidt. She says, "You have to put your own stuff into your
queue or it never gets made!"
Debbie is proud of her 9th UFO finish this year. She saw the Batik Stars pattern at a neat Canadian quilt show in
2009 where tea and fresh scones were served at the show! The quilt was made years ago but wasn’t quilted. It will find a home on her bed.
Donna and Debbie shared what they did in Houston classes. In the Marie Shell class they learned to make their own fabric designs by piecing strips.
Debbie and Donna also shared the collage pieces designed by Laura Heine of Fiberworks class at the Houston Show.
Donna and Debbie shared "Mouse Trap" by The Hen House made from Cotton and Steel Fabrics. They purchased the kit at Houston Quilt Festival in 2019!
Donna and Debbie also shared "Small Town" by The Hen House, which was another kit purchased at the Houston Quilt Festival in 2019. They have been busy this month!
Beth shared blocks that she made in a workshop using Deb
Tucker rulers. Had no interest initially,
but it was better than anything else she’s tried in terms of precision piecing.
Cindy shared a table runner that is her last UFO! It is a pattern she purchased at Old Country Store called Mitered Magic (www.designersworkshop.com) made from cleverly piecing together striped fabric to look like overlapping squares.
Kathy made a jelly roll rug using a modified pattern, and is using it as a mat for her sewing machine.
Lois has a friend who does tye dying, so she gave her some fabric to tye dye. From the resulting dyed fabric she
made a baby quilt (of her own design) and stuffed elephant.
Sigrid made a table runner from the pattern we all got last year.
Joan says, “This project really did me in.” It is from a pattern called First Snow by Tina Curran. Met by oohs and aahs from the CAMQG members. She started it by asking friends if they
wanted to do the pattern, and eight took the challenge. Of the eight, five finished.
Debbie made a baby quilt top from Dear Stella and stash fabrics for a friend’s baby.
She also made a Christmas quilt for her granddaughter (with Merriment by Gingerbear fabric) and then thought she needs to make one for her other
granddaughter. So she went to buy more
fabric, which is same fabric line but she bought a different panel so it turned
out much differently!
Sonja – made a Necessary Clutch Wallet by Emmaline.
MaryEllen shared a pumpkin table runner she made on a retreat. She used leftovers from her granddaughter’s quilt to
make a mini rug. She also showed her finished mosaic quilt. She shared the result of a purse class she took at Old Country Store and also a bag she made at her church quilt class.

October Member Spotlight
This month's spotlight was Leslie Robinson. She shared her quilting journey with us and a beautiful journal that she used to keep records of her quilts. Her first quilt was a baby quilt that she tied. Next, she made some pillow shams to match a LLBean quilt her husband gave her. She told us that she really enjoyed and still enjoys hand sewing and hand quilting. Many nights during her career as an Obstetrician she would stitch while waiting for babies to arrive. Her latest venture was completing a quilt for a friend that was started 40 years ago. She also has made beautiful braided rugs. Here are a few of Leslie's quilts and rugs.
Thanks for sharing you journey with us, Leslie.
