December Sew and Share

Hello
Our December meeting was our Holiday party which was held at the Issac's in Lemoyne. We had a short Sew and Share, followed by a tasty dinner, a cozy microwavable bowl exchange and then our White Elephant gift exchange. I believe everyone went home with a new treasure.
Let's take a look at what some of our members have been doing this past month.

Gay made a table runner using the Stepping Stone Table Runner pattern from Midcoast Cottage Designs that Donna gave us last month. She used a mini-charm pack from Primitive Gatherings called Flower Garden Gatherings and the background fabric came from her stash.

Gay also finished her Improv quilt from our Sew day in September led by Beth Reese. The back of the quilt looks terrific, too.

Karen has been busy with Christmas themed projects, big and small!

Cordell finished a lovely modern quilt.

Jenan used fabric from Art Gallery to finish this quilt.

Sigrid finished her 1 Block Wonder quilt with  minky and concentric circles on her domestic sewing machine.

Marla made a great quilt using Peppa Pig as the theme.

 Happy Quilting!

November Meeting and Spot light

The November meeting of CAMQG was held on November 20, 2018 in the community rooms of the Camp Hill Giant.  You can find the meeting minutes here.

Donna shared our last BOM pattern, the improv block.

Donna also gave each member a Midcoast Cottage Design, Stepping Stones Table Runner Pattern and shared some tips on constructing the piece.

Our spotlight quilter this month was Cordell Affeldt. She began sewing in Wild Rose, Wisconsin when she was a little girl and her parents bought a new mattress. She used the cotton sheets from the old mattress to beginning her sewing journey. She shared several totes she created with dyes and printing. She recycles a variety of items around her house to help her create these beautiful works of art.

She also made a hat and vest using fabric from her stash.

She tells us she learned most of her various skills from workshops she has attended. Most of the items she creates these days are for charity at the Unitarian Church in Harrisburg.

Following the Member Spotlight, Debbie and Donna shared their experience at the Houston Quilt Festival with some great slides of quilts and exhibits.

They also shared the following information with us:

A quilt exhibit at the Susquehanna Art Museum, which runs through January 20, 2019.

Our Holiday Party will be at the Issac's in Lemoyne at 6:00 on December 18, 2018. See the meeting minutes for more details.

We have 2 Sew Days scheduled in 2019...May 4, 2019 and September 14, 2019.
More information to follow...

November Sew and Share

What have CAMQG members been up to over the past month?  Check out the Sew and Share summary below:

Debbie started the evening off with her beautiful jacket she purchased while at the Houston Quilt Festival.

Melanie shared an adorable llama and alpaca wall hanging. She also made this Kite Flight pattern that she found online. She made it for her dad because after showing her dad all the quilts she has made, his comment had always been, "could have been brighter". I think he'll really like this bright quilt.

Maike went to hear a speaker at a local quilt guild and after returning home found a quilt pattern book that inspired her to make this quilt.

She continues to inspire us with her beautiful hand stitching, a table runner with 10 pentagons and a new pattern.

Lois made a wall hanging from
a Elizabeth Hartman pattern with beautiful fabrics.

Sigrid took an elf panel and created this fascinating quilt for the holidays.

Karen was  really busy this month......
